On August 1st, Beijing Royal School co-hosted a Forum on Gender Equality and Peer Education by UN Women. Ms. Jayathma Wickramanayake, the UN Secretary General』s Envoy on Youth, and Chinese peer educators at BRS discussed the critical roles today』s youths play in advancing gender equality and preventing gender-based violence. Representatives from embassies, education institutions, youth groups and other stakeholders participated in the event and learned about the UN Women』s Youth Empowerment efforts.

During the Forum, Mr. Wang Guangfa, Principal of Beijing Royal School, and Ms. Yang Ruikan, Programme Coordinator of UN Women China, both spoke on the issues. BRS Vice–Principal Yu Yao and BRS graduates Wang Mianchen and Han Yuejiang also participated in the forum. They shared with the Envoy on Youth their experiences in leveraging school mascot and positive masculinities to promote gender equality awareness.
